Landing at a colony on the Antarctic Peninsula

I found this video engaging and realistic. It's simply some type of passenger jet landing at a colony called Aterrizaje on the peninsula that stretches up toward South America. I'd still like to do virtual take off's and landings around Antarctica's perimeter, hopscotching from one base to the next and measure distance based on calculations, reports or accounts. This post is toward that end.

  1. Hmmm So Ecuador has a claim on the Antarctic.
Its "Antarctic Day" is January 3 and it has its own Antarctic Institute...

It's all very very abstract - "scientific projects" and collaboration with Brazil and Venezuela......
The Ecuadorian Antarctic Institute's tasks of planning the execution of the annual expeditions to Antarctica in order to develop research projects on the premises of the Ecuadorian Scientific station "Pedro Vicente Maldonado, located in Punta Fort William Greenwich Island . This year we have plans to make the XV Ecuadorian Expedition to Antarctica using logistic transportation of countries present in the Antarctic area, from January 7 to March 15, 2011.

tasks: meeting approved research projects in the Ecuadorian Scientific Antarctic Plan....

....so,so very very vague. The website doesn't show anything at present, but we can see a little of the Ecuadorian Antarctic mission here

In early 2012, the 16th expedition, also suitably vague, took place....

Hi, I'm Captain Rick of the Virtual Circumference Voyage of Antarctica. I intend to prove definitively if Earth is flat or a sphere by paying careful attention to how many miles we cover as we travel "around" Antarctica. Flat earth theory says it's 50-60,000 miles. Spherical Earth theory says it 14,000 miles. Join me and ask any questions that you think would help our mission.
